Mary and Martha

Jesus and his disciples came to the village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister named Mary who sat at Jesus’ feet listening to what he was saying.

But Martha was distracted by all the cooking and preparations in the kitchen and Mary was not helping. Finally Martha came to Jesus and said, “Teacher, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

“Martha, Martha,” Jesus answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken from her.”
